Adding cards & choosing variants

Updated May 20, 2026

Adding a card always means choosing the correct variant: holo, reverse holo, promo stamp, alternate art, and so on. Card Codex stores each variant separately so market prices line up with the copy you actually own.

From a set or card page

  1. Open the card.
  2. Use the quantity control or “add” affordance.
  3. If more than one print exists, a modal opens listing variants with live pricing context.
  4. Select the variant, confirm quantity, and save.

From search

Header search may offer a shortcut into the same variant modal. Pick the card, then the exact print, then confirm quantity.

While logged out

Browsing works for everyone, but quantity controls that write to your collection require an account. If you are logged out, the site prompts you to register or sign in before saving changes.

Graded copies

Slabbed PSA-style variants appear in the same kinds of flows for Pro members. Free accounts should track raw copies only; upgrade if you need graded rows in My Collection.

Track graded cards with Pro

Pro unlocks adding graded variants to your collection alongside raw prints.
