1. About Us and These Terms
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Card Codex, including the website at cardcodex.com and the features, tools, accounts and services made available through it (collectively, the “Service”).
The Service is operated by Card Codex Ltd (“Card Codex”, “we”, “us” or “our”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17331405.
By creating an account, purchasing a subscription or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms affects any statutory rights that you may have as a consumer.
2. The Card Codex Service
Card Codex provides tools and information relating to collectible trading cards.
Depending on the features available to you, the Service may include:
- collectible card databases and set lists;
- card images and information;
- market and pricing data;
- estimated card, set, collection and portfolio values;
- collection tracking;
- set completion tracking;
- watchlists;
- portfolio statistics and historical pricing information;
- user accounts;
- reports, tools and downloadable information;
- Card Codex Pro features; and
- other features that we may introduce from time to time.
Some features are available free of charge while others require a paid Card Codex Pro subscription.
We may develop, update, improve, replace or discontinue features of the Service from time to time. Where a change materially affects a paid service, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected users where appropriate and will comply with applicable consumer law.
3. Accounts
Certain features of Card Codex require you to create an account.
You are responsible for:
- providing accurate and current account information;
- keeping your login credentials secure;
- activities carried out through your account; and
- notifying us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You must not sell, transfer, share or otherwise provide access to your account in a way that circumvents our subscription plans, usage limits or security measures.
We may impose reasonable limits on account usage to protect the Service from abuse, automated activity or excessive use.
We may suspend or restrict an account where we reasonably believe that it has been compromised, used fraudulently, used in breach of these Terms or presents a security risk to Card Codex or its users.
4. Card, Market and Pricing Data
Card Codex provides card prices, statistics, market information and related data for informational and estimation purposes only.
Estimated Values
Any card price, set value, collection value, portfolio value or other valuation displayed by Card Codex is an estimate only.
It does not constitute:
- a professional valuation or appraisal;
- a guaranteed market value;
- a guaranteed sale price;
- an offer by Card Codex to purchase or sell an item;
- financial or investment advice; or
- a representation that you will be able to buy or sell an item for the displayed amount.
Actual values and sale prices may differ materially from estimates displayed by Card Codex.
Factors affecting value may include, among other things, card condition, grading, authenticity, language, edition, location, marketplace fees, transaction costs, availability, liquidity, buyer demand and changes in market conditions.
Third-Party Data
Card Codex obtains and aggregates information from third-party sources.
While we take reasonable steps to provide useful and accurate information, third-party data may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable or incorrect.
We do not guarantee that pricing information or other third-party data will always be accurate, complete, current or available.
Your Decisions
Collectible markets can be volatile.
You are responsible for carrying out your own research before purchasing, selling, trading, grading or otherwise making decisions involving collectible cards.
Card Codex is not responsible for losses arising solely because an actual purchase or sale price differs from an estimated value displayed through the Service, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Card Codex Pro
Card Codex may offer paid subscription plans under the name Card Codex Pro (“Pro”).
The features, usage allowances, subscription periods and prices applicable to Pro will be displayed before you purchase a subscription.
Depending on the options available at the time of purchase, subscriptions may be offered on a monthly, annual or other recurring basis.
By purchasing Pro, you agree to pay the price displayed to you at checkout.
6. Automatic Renewal
Unless expressly stated otherwise when you subscribe, Card Codex Pro is a recurring subscription.
Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel it before the next renewal date.
For example:
- a monthly subscription will normally renew each month; and
- an annual subscription will normally renew each year.
The applicable price, billing period and renewal arrangements will be displayed before you complete your purchase.
Payment will be taken using the payment method associated with your subscription.
You are responsible for ensuring that your payment information remains valid and up to date.
7. Free Trials and Promotional Offers
We may offer free trials, discounted introductory periods, promotional prices or other offers from time to time.
The specific conditions of an offer will be displayed when you sign up.
Where a free or discounted trial automatically converts into a paid subscription, we will make this clear before you subscribe, including the price that will apply after the promotional period.
Unless you cancel before the end of the applicable trial or promotional period, your subscription may automatically convert to a paid subscription and renew in accordance with the terms shown when you signed up.
Promotional offers may be subject to eligibility requirements and may be withdrawn or changed for future customers.
8. Payments
Payments for Card Codex Pro are processed by third-party payment providers, such as Stripe.
Card Codex does not directly store your complete payment card details.
Prices and the applicable currency will be displayed before you complete your purchase.
You authorise us and our payment provider to charge the applicable subscription fees to your selected payment method in accordance with the subscription you have chosen.
If a payment fails, we or our payment provider may retry the payment.
If payment remains unsuccessful, we may suspend or downgrade your Pro subscription until payment is successfully made.
9. Cancelling Card Codex Pro
You may cancel your Card Codex Pro subscription at any time using the subscription or billing controls available through your account, where available, or by contacting us.
Cancelling stops future automatic renewals.
Unless otherwise stated or required by law, cancelling your subscription does not immediately remove Pro access. You will normally continue to have access to Pro until the end of the billing period that you have already paid for.
After your paid subscription ends, your account may revert to the free Card Codex plan and the limits applicable to free accounts will apply.
Cancelling a subscription is separate from deleting your Card Codex account.
10. Cancellation Rights and Refunds
30-Day Refund Policy
In addition to any statutory rights you may have, Card Codex offers a 30-day refund period for Card Codex Pro subscription payments.
If you are unhappy with your Pro subscription, subscribed by mistake, or did not intend for your subscription to renew, you may request a refund within 30 days of the relevant payment by contacting us at [email protected].
This applies to both initial subscription payments and renewal payments.
Refunds will be returned to the original payment method. Your Card Codex Pro access may end when the refund is processed.
Your Statutory Rights
If you are a consumer, you may also have statutory cancellation, cooling-off or refund rights depending on where you live and the circumstances of your purchase.
Nothing in these Terms limits or replaces those rights.
Where UK consumer cancellation rights apply, you may have the right to cancel a distance contract within the applicable statutory cancellation period.
This 30-day refund policy is provided in addition to your statutory consumer rights.
11. Subscription Price Changes
We may change the price of Card Codex Pro from time to time.
Any change will not retrospectively alter the price of a subscription period that you have already paid for.
Where we increase the recurring price of your subscription, we will provide reasonable advance notice where required and tell you when the new price will take effect.
You may cancel your subscription before the new price applies if you do not wish to continue at the new price.
12. Acceptable Use
You must use Card Codex only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
You must not:
- use automated systems, robots, crawlers, scrapers or similar technologies to extract Card Codex data in bulk without our written permission;
- attempt to circumvent rate limits, subscription restrictions, usage limits or security controls;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, another user’s account, our servers or related systems;
- introduce viruses, malware or other harmful code;
- interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Service;
- create accounts automatically or fraudulently;
- use another person’s account without permission;
- use the Service for fraudulent or unlawful purposes;
- reproduce, redistribute, resell or commercially exploit substantial parts of Card Codex or its proprietary data without our permission;
- use Card Codex content or proprietary data to create or maintain a competing database or service without our written permission; or
- use the Service in a manner that infringes the intellectual property or other legal rights of another person.
We may take reasonable technical measures to detect and prevent prohibited activity.
13. Intellectual Property

The Card Codex website, branding, software, user interface, design, layout, original written content and other materials created by or for Card Codex are owned by Card Codex Ltd or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except where expressly permitted, these Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in Card Codex or its content.
Third-Party Intellectual Property
Card Codex contains names, images, trademarks, product information and other intellectual property belonging to third parties.
All third-party trademarks, logos, card images, character names, product names and other intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.
Their appearance on Card Codex does not imply affiliation with, sponsorship by or endorsement of Card Codex by those rights holders.
Card Codex is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures Inc. or their respective affiliates.
14. Third-Party Websites and Marketplaces
Card Codex may contain links to websites, marketplaces and services operated by third parties, including online marketplaces.
We do not control those third-party services and their own terms, privacy policies and other rules will apply when you use them.
Any transaction you enter into with a third party is between you and that third party.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, Card Codex is not the seller, purchaser, payment processor or marketplace operator for those transactions.
We are therefore not responsible for matters such as:
- the condition or authenticity of an item;
- fulfilment or delivery;
- marketplace availability;
- payments made to third parties;
- returns or refunds;
- disputes between buyers and sellers; or
- representations made by third-party sellers or marketplaces.
Nothing in this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Affiliate Links
Some links on Card Codex may be affiliate links.
If you follow an affiliate link and subsequently make a purchase or complete another qualifying action, Card Codex may receive a commission or other payment from the relevant third party.
This helps support the operation of Card Codex.
The existence of an affiliate relationship does not make Card Codex responsible for the products, services or transactions offered by the third party.
Where appropriate, we will identify commercial or affiliate relationships in accordance with applicable requirements.
16. Service Availability
We aim to provide a reliable Service, but we do not guarantee that Card Codex will always be available without interruption or error.
The Service may occasionally be unavailable because of:
- maintenance;
- software updates;
- technical problems;
- hosting or network failures;
- security incidents;
- third-party service outages;
- unavailable or delayed data sources; or
- circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We may temporarily restrict access to all or part of the Service where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal or operational reasons.
Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights or remedies you may have in relation to a paid service.
17. Changes to the Service
Card Codex is an evolving service.
We may introduce, update, replace or remove features where reasonably necessary to improve the Service, maintain security, comply with legal requirements, respond to third-party changes or develop Card Codex.
We will not use this right to avoid our obligations to consumers.
Where a material change significantly affects a paid subscription, we will provide notice or other remedies where required by applicable law.
18. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to Card Codex if we reasonably believe that:
- you have materially breached these Terms;
- your account is being used fraudulently;
- your activity presents a security risk;
- you have attempted to interfere with or abuse the Service;
- payment for a paid subscription remains outstanding; or
- suspension or termination is required by law.
Where appropriate, we will provide reasonable notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue before terminating a paid account, unless immediate action is reasonably necessary because of fraud, security, illegal activity or serious misuse.
You may stop using Card Codex at any time.
Termination does not affect rights or obligations that arose before termination.
19. Account and Collection Data
Your use of Card Codex may involve storing information about your card collection, watchlists, preferences and other account activity.
You retain ownership of information that you provide to us.
You give us permission to process that information to the extent reasonably necessary to operate, maintain and improve the Service and provide the features you request.
How we collect, process, retain and delete personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Deleting or closing your account may result in the permanent deletion of collection data and other information associated with the account, subject to information that we are legally entitled or required to retain.
You should not rely on Card Codex as the sole permanent backup of important information.
20. Privacy and Cookies
Our processing of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.
Our use of cookies and similar technologies is explained in our Cookie Policy.
Those policies should be read alongside these Terms.
21. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so.
In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
- any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to the above, Card Codex is not responsible for losses that result solely from reliance on estimated collectible values, third-party pricing information or market information where Card Codex has made clear that such information is provided as an estimate.
We are not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
If you use Card Codex for business or commercial purposes, we will not be liable for loss of profits, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity except where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Different limitations may apply where you use Card Codex as a consumer, and nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude rights or remedies available to consumers under applicable law.
22. Consumer Rights
If you use Card Codex as a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to services and digital content supplied to you.
These rights are in addition to the rights provided under these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or otherwise affect rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and a mandatory consumer protection law that applies to you, the mandatory law will apply.
23. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, including where we change the Service, introduce new features or subscriptions, respond to changes in law or clarify existing provisions.
The latest version will be published on this page and the “Last Updated” date will be changed accordingly.
Where a change materially affects an existing paid subscription or your legal rights, we will provide reasonable notice where required by applicable law.
Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that you have already accrued.
24. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom or another jurisdiction, you may also benefit from mandatory protections provided by the laws of the country in which you live.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have regarding where legal proceedings may be brought under applicable consumer law.
