Welcome! I'm Oli, the other co-founder and the lead developer here at Card Codex. My passion for TCGs runs just as deep as Tom's, but it always came with a desire to organize, catalogue, and understand the systems behind the collection. As a kid and then adult, I wasn't just collecting Pokémon cards; I was creating my own paper databases, tracking my collection's value (in my own head, at least), and dreaming of a better way to manage it all.
That dream never really went away. As I pursued a career in web development, I fell in love with building clean, powerful, and intuitive digital tools. One day, Tom and I were reminiscing about our collections and the conversation quickly turned to the lack of a modern, fast, and reliable platform for collectors. It was a lightbulb moment. I realized I could use my skills to build the exact tool we had always wished for as kids.
My Role at Card Codex
As the developer, I'm the architect behind the platform. Every button you click, every search you perform, and every price chart you analyze is part of a system I've meticulously built and continue to refine. I live in the code, constantly working to make Card Codex faster, more accurate, and easier to use. My mission is to ensure that the technology behind the site is so seamless that it disappears, leaving you with nothing but a powerful and enjoyable experience.
My Pokémon Journey
- Favorite Legendary: Mewtwo. A powerful, intelligent, and complex Pokémon created by science. As a developer, I've always been drawn to its story of creation and its incredible, almost engineered power.
- Favorite Starter: Charmander. I've always loved the idea of potential. Starting with this small, fiery lizard and knowing it would one day become the iconic Charizard was the ultimate symbol of growth and evolution.
- Favorite Generation: Generation I (Kanto). The original 151. As a builder, I have immense respect for the foundation that everything else was built upon. The simplicity and iconic design of the first generation is timeless.
- First TCG Card Memory: Finally trading for a worn-out base set Pikachu card in the schoolyard. It wasn't holographic or rare, but it was mine, and it taught me that the value of a card isn't just its price, but the story behind how you got it.
My Vision for Card Codex
My passion is building tools that people love to use. With Card Codex, I want to create a platform that feels like an indispensable part of your collecting journey—a tool that's as reliable as a Poké Ball and as exciting as finding a secret rare.
I'm always working on the next feature, and I'm thrilled you're here to see it evolve.
